About Us

Our Mission Statement

Our goal is to help Bristol and Warren residents stay in the community as they age by offering activities and services that minimize isolation and support independent living.

More About Our Mission

Neighbors caring for neighbors! We are a community-based organization of volunteers working together to make aging in Bristol and Warren a better experience. We realized from our own experiences that many people could use a little help handling the challenges of aging, whether they live alone – or with a partner – when they can’t quite manage all that they used to be able to do.Many residents want to stay in their own homes as they grow older, close to their friends and familiar activities -- but they need help to do this. Not professional help, but friendly support from people they know and trust. Village volunteers provide that support, connecting members to a wide range of services and activities including:

  • Transportation, scheduled in advance, for shopping and errands and medical appointments
  • In-home technology help
  • Household chores & minor repairs
  • Social visits and gatherings
  • Educational and cultural activities

This is our mission! As our Village grows, we look forward to adding even more activities and events and we welcome your recommendations.

Who We Are

Our Steering Committee consists of local people who see the value of helping older adults stay in their home and community. We help implement the valued practice of “neighbor helping neighbor”, matching the unique interests and talents of our fully vetted volunteers to the unique needs of our members. We supplement already existing community services, in our own unique way.

The Bristol-Warren Village is a membership-driven, volunteer staffed organization, and part of The Village Common of Rhode Island (TVCRI) which provides direction and operational support for all Villages in RI. Volunteers are key to our success. Our amazing team of volunteers shares their time and talents to enhance the lives of members through the services they provide and their interactions with members.

Anyone interested in becoming involved, whether on the Steering Committee, as a volunteer, or as a member receiving services, is welcome. And, once you become involved, don’t be surprised to find that many members volunteer in some way, and many volunteers also become members!

Our Values

We are a local village of The Village Common of Rhode Island (TVCRI), with whom we share these core values: Generosity; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Engagement; Collaboration; Sustainability.
