Member Services/Membership

Member Services

Bristol-Warren Village offers members direct one-on-one services for individuals and group services that are generally available to all members.

Direct services. To request a service, the member phones in a request, it is entered by The Village Common of RI into the system, a willing and able volunteer is identified, and based upon volunteer availability, the service is provided. [NOTE: Our volunteers undergo background checks and training.]. Examples of Direct Support:

  • Transportation in a trained and vetted volunteer’s vehicle to and from medical appointments, for shopping, or for other personal needs (within a reasonable radius of Bristol-Warren)
  • Errands – the volunteer picks up/drops off groceries, prescriptions, etc. after making payment arrangements with the member (within a reasonable radius of Bristol-Warren)
  • Technical assistance – help with electronic devices such as computers, phones, tablets, and TVs; help adapting your device and equipment setup to accommodate vision, hearing, and other accessibility challenges
  • Friendly calls or visits: periodic check in calls or visits by a volunteer; walks, games or coffee with a volunteer
  • Household chores/Handy help: help with chores that have become challenging, especially those requiring a ladder; help with outdoor maintenance; help with small home repairs; help with home safety concerns

Group Activities. These services provide access to social programs and events, educational talks, and cultural events which provide social connections for our members. They may be planned and scheduled by our local members and volunteers, or they may be programs offered by other villages within our RI village network, or other community sources.

Membership

At the present time, membership in our Bristol-Warren Village is open to any full-time or part-time resident of the Towns of Bristol or Warren. Most of our members will be seniors, since our primary mission is to help older residents remain active, connected and independent, as they meet increasing challenges.

Our members are eligible to receive services offered by Bristol-Warren Village and by TVCRI and benefit by being connected with peers helping each other as we age in our communities.

Bristol-Warren Village is a membership organization. Whether for an individual membership or a dual membership (another adult living in the same household), membership dues represent a commitment from members to our village and are tailored to make membership affordable to people of all economic means. We hope that membership dues are never a barrier to joining our village. Click on Join Us for specifics. Your membership dues give you access to all the member benefits and there are no separate fees for any volunteer-provided service.

The process of becoming a member is easy. Simply put, express your interest (via phone at or email) and you will be visited in your home by a pair of our village membership ambassadors. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss the mutual fit and complete a membership application. That’s it!
